China's imported wines continue to decline

According to the recent data released by the China Business Research Institute database, from 2013 to 2017, China's wine imports increased by 381,347 kiloliters, an increase of 93.96%. In 2017, China's wine imports were 787,204 kiloliters, an increase of 17.8%. From January to November 2018, the import volume of Chinese wine was 670,716 kiloliters, a year-on-year decrease of 5.1%. It can be seen that the amount of imported wine is showing a trend of falling year by year.

It can be seen from the relevant data that in 2018, the growth rate of imported wines continued to decline since June. The number of imported wines in June was 54,000 kiloliters, down 30.4% year-on-year; the number of imported wines in July was 58,000 kiloliters. The year-on-year decline was 19.6%; the number of imported wines in August was 61,000 kiloliters, down 13.4% year-on-year; the number of imported wines in September was 61,000 kiloliters, down 24.9% year-on-year; the number of imported wines in October was 48,000 kiloliters, down year on year. 9.9%; the number of imported wines in November was 55,000 kiloliters, down 26.1% year-on-year.

From the aspect of the amount, there is also a trend of slowing growth. From 2015 to 2017, the amount of Chinese wine imports is growing. In 2017, the amount of Chinese wine imports was US$3675.5 million, a year-on-year increase of 21.9%. From January to November 2018, the amount of Chinese wine imports was US$ 3611 million, an increase of 10.1% year-on-year. The unit price of imported wine is increasing, and Chinese consumers' acceptance of prices is gradually increasing.

According to relevant data, in 2017, a total of 5,909 companies in China operated imported bottled wine, while more than 30,000 companies engaged in imported wine business. In 2018, imported wine companies continued to increase. According to industry analysts, the rate of China's imported wines is high, and there are about 1,000 companies that withdraw from the imported wines every year, and there will be no more new companies in this number.
